SXM Has No Contract With Checkmate Security
SIMPSON BAY, St. Maarten (Thursday, February 26, 2015) - The Princess Juliana International Airport, SXM, has no contract with Checkmate Security to handle security matters at the airport, stated Kalifa Hickinson, Corporate Communications Specialist, in reaction to some press reports Thursday.
“Contrary to the impression created in one of the daily newspapers, PJIAE NV, the operating company of the Princess Juliana International Airport, has no contract with Checkmate Security to handle security matters at the airport,” Hickinson stressed.
“As is well-known, security is ‘Job Number One’ at SXM Airport, and we are proud of our record in this regard. SXM takes safety and security very seriously and continues to do so in the face of both national and international challenges,” Hickinson continued.
It will be recalled that SXM recently hosted members of parliament and gave them a tour of the facilities, during which visit the MPs were able to see first-hand, the measures and initiatives taken by the airport in various areas, including security.
“As an international airport and a fast-growing regional hub, SXM will continue to ensure that safety and security at its facilities are not compromised in any way and are delivered in an efficient, cost-effective manner that meets international standards,” Hickinson concluded.
