Several new stores to open at SXM Airport by the start of tourist season
New Commercial Strategy Progressing Steadily
SIMPSON BAY, St. Maarten (November 14, 2013) - At least seven new concessionaires are set to open for business by the beginning of the St. Maarten tourist season. This was revealed by Suzy Kartokromo, acting manager of Marketing and Customer Service Department of SXM Airport.
Kartokromo said that about 92% of the available space at SXM has already been allocated, and 85% of the concessions are local and already existing stores that would be returning.
“Work is progressing with the renovation and fitting of the stores and as can be expected everybody is not only excited but also eager to open up for business,” Kartokromo said.
‘Coming Soon’ signage will soon go up at the various stores to alert visitors of what is coming,” she added.
At every major international conference, the issue of airports optimizing their non-aeronautical revenues has been highlighted, with particular focus on creating a sense of place for the passenger. It is this strategy that SXM Airport has embarked upon and is implementing with due diligence.
